Ecom Express launches all-women Delivery Center in Manipur

Imphal, 2022-09-08

Ecom Express Limited, one of India’s leading technology-enabled full stack logistics service providers to the e-commerce industry, has announced the launch of an all-women Delivery Center in Imphal, Manipur today.  This is the Company’s first all-women delivery center in the northeast region and sixth in the country. It will be entirely run by women as Delivery Center Head, Supervisor and Delivery Associates. The new center is part of the Company’s efforts towards strengthening its commitment to diversity and inclusion while enhancing opportunities for women in the logistics sector.

Situated in Lilasing Khongnangkhong, the delivery center will cater to areas, such as Chingmeirong, Thangmeiband, Lamphel, Lamphel Sana Keithel, Nagamapal, RIMS, RIMS Road, Thangal Bazar, North AOC, Khoyathong and Awang BOC.

Commenting on the occasion, Manju Dhawan, Co-founder, Ecom Express Limited, said, ‘’There has been a shift in how logistics is perceived today. I believe it is no longer about gender but the opportunities and mediums that are available to people. Traditionally logistics was perceived as a male-dominated industry. However, today there is a change in narrative and the increasing degree of women’s participation is encouraging and a testimony that the scenario is changing in India.’’

She added, “The new center reinforces our commitment to supporting women and contribute to their economic independence. Our goal is to increase women workforce at all levels besides associates. This is one of the many initiatives the Company has undertaken to support women to succeed in the logistics industry.”

Ecom Express employs over 2000 women across its processing facilities, hubs, fulfilment and delivery centers. Many of its locations have general shift operations that are run by 50 per cent female personnel. By raising awareness and developing multiple feedback methods to address problems, the Company has put in place several steps to maintain a safe workplace for women. In addition, a helpline number is dedicated specifically for women to call if they require any support or assistance.

Shoubam Karuna Devi, Delivery Center Head, Imphal said, “My journey with Ecom Express has been amazing with plenty of learning opportunities coming along the way. I am happy to be a part of an all-women delivery center team and look forward to seeing all the hard work put in by me and fellow colleagues, turn into massive success’’.

Mutum Kunjeshori Devi, Delivery Associate said, “Working with Ecom Express has given me a great opportunity as I am able to earn well and take care of the financial responsibilities of my family.’’

The Company’s five other all-women delivery centers are in the cities of Delhi, Jaipur, Phagwara and Trivandrum.
